Print out the entry form and illustrate any type of house plant or mushroom/fungus. Write about what you have drawn.
Art and Information Contest Sponsored by the Cullman County Master Gardeners
Cullman County Fair October 15-24, 2026
- Open to Grades 1-6.
- 1st – 3rd place and honorable mention ribbons will be awarded for each grade.
- Cash awards: first place ($15); second place ($12); third place ($10)
- A panel of Master Gardeners will judge entries based on neatness according to grade level abilities,
adherence to contest rules, and accuracy of facts. - Winners and selected entries will be displayed at the Cullman County Fair.
- Winners will be notified by phone or text before the fair.
- No entries will be accepted after 4:00 p.m., October 4, 2026.
- To arrange for school pickups, if needed, please call the Extension Office at (256) 737-9386 by
September 30, 2026. - Entries may be dropped off at the Cullman County Extension Office, 1714 Tallyho Street SW,
Cullman, AL 35055 from 8:00-12:00 and 12:30-4:30 Mon.-Fri. - School entries and awards will be returned by October 31, 2026.
- Homeschooler entries and awards may be picked up at the Cullman County Extension Office from
November 2, 2026, through November 19, 2026. - Any material left after November 19, 2026 will become the property of the Master Gardeners.
Rules for Entries
- First and last name, phone number, grade, and school and teacher name or home school
must be written on the back of entry. - Artwork and accurate facts must be submitted on the sheet provided with these instructions. Write
the title of object drawn then write a few facts about the object on the lines provided. An adult may
help with research and sentence construction but information must be in the student’s handwriting.
1st graders may write only 2 sentences if desired. - Artwork must be of any type house plant or mushroom/fungus.
- Draw the item LARGE so it can be seen on a large display.
- Any colorful art medium may be used.
- The art must be drawn and colored to resemble actual objects as closely as possible.
