On Monday, January 19th, CCMG president MG BJ and our Wildflower Garden Committee Chair MG Sheila presented a partnership proposal to the Cullman Lions Club to build an informational kiosk to enhance visitor experience, education, and engagement. The 35-year-old wildflower garden spans three acres of woodland space, enhanced by winding trails, streams, bridges, and native plants and trees. This beautiful area also includes an elevated outdoor classroom available for public use and a storybook trail designed for children. It is a certified ArbNet arboretum, and it supports biodiversity and conservation while offering free, year-round learning experiences opportunities to identify native plants, trees, and wildlife. In addition, it is part of the Rosalynn Carter National Butterfly Trail and serves as a peaceful spot for quiet reflection. The new weather-resistant kiosk will showcase a stunning garden map created by White Shovel Landscaping of Decatur, AL, highlighting points of interest, seasonal bloom information, interpretive information about plants and wildlife, and QR codes that would link to events and educational resources. The estimated cost is $5,000, and we hope for a spring installation. We are excited about this potential partnership and the benefits it will bring to our local community and visitors alike!
